Dr. Krenz is a distinguished clinical psychologist with a deep-seated expertise in guiding older children, adolescents, and adults through a spectrum of mental health challenges. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Krenz’s academic journey was marked by distinction, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and earning her doctoral degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2009. Her doctoral work was particularly focused on the intricate dynamics of emotional and behavioral issues as well as completing comprehensive assessments for diagnostic clarification.

 

Her postgraduate endeavors led her to Nova Southeastern University Psychology Services Center, where she honed her skills in trauma therapy. This was further enriched by her postdoctoral tenure at Citrus Health Network, Inc., where she specialized in both group and individual therapy for severe behavioral disorders within an inpatient framework.

 

Dr. Krenz’s subsequent experience spans over a decade, including a five-year tenure in private practice in Washington State and a six-year period at Children’s of Alabama prior to joining the Birmingham Psychology Group in 2021. At these settings, she conducted assessments and individual therapy, addressing a wide array of mental health conditions. Dr. Krenz also developed and led DBT-informed groups with adolescents in the inpatient psychiatric setting. Her clinical acumen encompasses anxiety, depression, behavioral outbursts, trauma, maladaptive personality organization, self-harm, and other challenges in emotion regulation.

 

Dr. Krenz’s extensive assessment background allows her to design specific assessment plans to the individual. Her comprehensive assessments, spanning from diagnostic clarification to ascertaining learning disorders, can illuminate the full picture of an individual, paving the way for targeted and effective interventions.
